In The Closet Does Not Mean You Suppress Your Homosexuality
Through my work I met a man who was a sex therapist. He was so non committal and claimed that he didn't identify of anything in particular. At one point he asked if I minded taking a test to see what my preferences were (I'm 52 so I pretty much think I know).
He had me fill out a bunch of bubble questionnaire answer sheets, all sorts of random questions, do you like pink, what do you feel when you see a hummingbird. Have you every touched another same sex partner's genitals. Do you prefer to perform oral sex or receive.
I answered honestly, including some of the things I had done in my early sexual life. He concluded that I suppressed my gay side. I was in fact a latent homosexual. I told him that he was wrong. I wasn't latent. I was active. But I wasn't public and didn't care to be public about it.
There is a big difference between being in the closet and being suppressed. I don't have an emotional connection, for me gay sex is sex and I like to get on with a man who is my age and enjoy the moment. I prefer to get along with men who are also in the closet. Or sometimes an accidental meeting results in being able to enjoy some man to man sex. And I truly do enjoy it.
I am married to a wonderful woman who is the not only my wife but the mother of my children and we live a content life. Our sex life has never been stellar, and if she happened to meet someone on a cruise with her girlfriends, I am not there to do anything about it. But I don't think she has, it's not in her character.
But to cut into what this was all about with the professor, he is as homosexual as they come and he was using his 'tests' to break down resistance. I was as cold to him as I could be, not my cup of tea. I think that I may in fact just accept that golfing trip to Arizona with a friend of mine. He's a wonderful golfer and he is wonderful company between the sheets. Just friends, just fun, sex for sex.
