Part Owner And Cofounder
I was an exemplary employee the review said. 2% they said, others aren't getting that much. My friend, the one who tells you the truth and doesn't sugar coat it, quit, get another job. That's why I left security and five years experience and took a job with a 'startup'.
The owner and founder told me it's a ground floor opportunity. You will get to do things you will never do in a big company. After a couple of months he told me that some financing he was expecting didn't come through. Could I hold on until he got some money to pay me? I said my rent was due, I needed the money to pay my rent. See, he said, that's part if your problem, overhead. He had a room, come live with him and cut my overhead.
He lived in a rental house, he had sold his house to fund the company. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, 650 square feet. I could take the couch, the small 2nd room was full of stuff. Or, he lifted his finger, you can sleep with me. He said he didn't snore.
At that point I was broke, I used what little I had to pay part of my rent, before moving out. I took the couch, thank you. He was visibly upset, disappointed. I told him he better not touch me.
He did snore. He did touch me, not on purpose, but he touched me. I didn't sleep that night. But the next night I was out and I swear he felt me up. He surprised me and told me he had raised a little money, he said we should go out. His mother gave him three thousand, at that point she was the largest stockholder.
He got his arm around me, his hand up under my shirt. At least he wasn't snoring. I fell asleep waiting for him to get fresh, I swear he felt me up after I fell asleep. We used the three thousand 'judicially' to pay some debts, his rent for example. He worked on his company twelve hours a day. I worked twelve hours a day. He had the car.
I looked at the couch lovingly. But he couldn't sleep if he wasn't holding me with his hand under my shirt, cupping me and kissing my neck. This was it, I thought to myself, I turned on my back and let him get to know me, in the Biblical sense. I slept pretty good, his arm around me his hand under my shirt.
One day some real money people showed up. Real funding, enough to hire employees. Enough to get a real office, rent a real place. Cofounder he called me, stockholder, but not that much. I got the side by the window, you know, he slept on his side and that's the side where he could put his arm around me and keep his hand under my shirt.
