In Spite Of Being Together For Over 40 Years No One Says Lesbian

As a ninth grader I was initiated into an all girls church group. Me, and the other freshman girl, were stripped naked and older girls examined us, including spreading us open, having our vaginas fingered and then our whole pussies eaten. We then had to eat out a girl. We were kept naked, until the initiation was over. We were sworn to secrecy.

The senior girl who ate me told me I was her girlfriend and continued to have sex with me until she graduated. By then I was completely lost in love with her. During her college days we saw each other during her home breaks. Slowly, reluctantly she admitted to herself that she was in love with a high school kid and she was falling deeper and deeper in love.

At that time being in love, romantically and sexually, with another girl wasn't something anyone around us had any experience. Her mother told her that her feelings for me were akin to loving your younger sister. My sister told me she heard that girls were experimenting and I should just ignore it.

When I went to college I went where she had a job. I was told to just do what you can, you can't just unlove someone. She was told to look after me, I was as much as her little sister. No one talked about us sleeping with each other, and no one wanted to talk about us having sex, although by then our families were well aware of it.

As the years passed, I finished college, we were treated as a couple, we had 'guests' stay over, and we went into our bedroom to sleep. My mother had found the word 'special' to describe our relationship, as in 'they have this special relationship'. Children was a sober discussion, you need to find a way, going your life without children can only bring heartache to you.

When my niece married, we were already in our fifties, I felt that my child was getting married. Heartache at not having children may not be the right word, we use emptiness. We have been 'married' in the spiritual sense, we have been for forty years. In the legal sense not so long. Lesbian is not a word our families use.
