The Man I Love
I fell in love with one of my bosses at work, slowly, until it has taken over my life. He is married, has children. I got so overwhelmed I went to see his wife and told her about my feelings. She didn't slap me, or throw me out. She talked to me, told me her husband was fond of me, and worried about me. She told me I had to own my feelings, and get them out in the open or they would destroy me from the inside.
She set it up, Sunday dinner at her house, her children all present. I stood up and declared my love to him. Then we all talked about it. Loving him was not a sin, living a lie was.
I was adopted by his family, became one more sister at the table. I was encouraged to voice my feelings with him, it was every day, at work and outside work. I love you. I love you. I love you. Until it was as natural as the sun and the moon. Like a mother telling her baby she loved her. Neck hugs, small kisses, but more important showing him with special attentions. "You attend to the man you love". It should be unconscious, until it's as normal as breathing.
Incredibly my love went deeper, at the same time my anxieties disappeared. After a year, I had my place at the table, my place around the Christmas tree, my life was on track and I finished college and after graduation I went to work in another office. Where my boss is my boss, and not the man I love.
