My Friends Betrayed Me
One night I found out what it is to be helpless. I was twentyfour, in my first big girl professional job, I was working on improving my fitness, I had lost twelve pounds, and added muscle mass. I wanted more definition, my thighs, my tummy, my derriere which I felt was my best feature. I joined a fitness club and could afford a trainer. She was defined, just dreaming, but what if she was mine? I can dream, can't I?
After six months I could see the difference, my trainer and I were on a first name basis. I went to dinner with two friends, and my trainer walked in with a woman, cooing and holding hands. My heart rate went up, my jealousy feelings went off. I was so obvious my friends asked me to settle down. I got an immediate headache, we had to leave because I couldn't sit and watch that girl throwing herself at her.
It didn't cross my mind that I had given myself away. My friends realized I went the other way. We talked, I was so what? They were you have to be kidding. In the next hours my jealous behavior was public, I got texts 'are you gay?' My closely guarded private life was over, welcome messages by open lesbians. I lost my privacy, apologies made no difference, my friends betrayed me.
I'm gay, not my favorited thing to say. I don't share talking about what kind of sex I engage in. It is nobody's business. My parents don't need to know. Now I have no choice but to tell them. It will be a very dark day.
Whatever could have been between me and my trainer is gone forever, I can't see her again.
