Me And My Dad
My mom got hooked on pain killers when I was young and did the usual spiral that ended with her deserting me and my dad when I was 14. We lucked out that she didn't take me with her because there's no telling what would have happened to me if she did. Luckily, she left me with my dad who has always been an amazing father and he made sure I had a great childhood. No matter what the circumstance was, Dad and I always had each other's back and I loved that we were always together.
There was a blizzard on my 18th birthday, so needless to say it was just me and him. I told him I wanted to know what it was like to be drunk with him (because we had that kind of honesty) and he agreed since it was my birthday. We sat around drinking all night, and though I would regret it the next morning, there was a conversation we had that I would never forget.
I asked him why he never had a girlfriend or dated even if just for the sex. He told me that when you are truly in love with someone that the sex is amazing, but mainly because that person is already your best friend and they feel like the best half of your soul, and that since my mom left I had filled that gap. He loved me as much as he had ever loved my mom, and though he missed the sex it just wasn't that important with everything else that we had in our life and he didn't want to muddy the good things by bringing in another woman. We can have sex without love and love without sex and I was more important than "getting laid".
That stuck with me and I gave it a LOT of thought over the next couple of weeks. I loved my dad deeply, not in a sexual way, and he didn't know that I had been having sex with boys I didn't love at all. He probably would have killed them if he knew some of the things I'd done, lol!
I got him to drink with me again and he panicked when I climbed in bed with him. I reminded him of that entire conversation we had on my 18th and told him the sex didn't matter because the love was there and I was certainly no virgin. I made love to my father that night and it was deep and amazing and I knew that was the kind of love I wanted for the rest of my life. We already loved each other deeply as father and daughter and being "fuck buddies" was weird and exhilarating.
We kept that amazing secret relationship going for 3 years until I left for college. I met my husband there and Dad finally settled down with another woman that I dearly love, and neither of them know about me and my dad's secret. He's 56 now and whenever one of us is ready to call it quits, Dad and I go on a Father-Daughter weekend to "decompress" in a cabin somewhere. My husband knows I'll always be a "Daddy's Girl" but he has no idea how often it has saved our marriage.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not Pro-"This Topic", and I know that we're the exception to the rule compared to the way that it's normally portrayed, but if it's handled the right way, on YOUR terms moving up to him, being a Daddy's Girl can have the best benefits you'll ever know.
