My Path From Wealth To Poverty, And Back Again

I was fourteen when my father died, of a heart attack in his sleep. The world turned upside down. Without him we had to move to my grandparents, another school in a small town. My mother got a job as a receptionist at the high school she graduated from. For the insurance and to help with the bills. Gone were summer vacations, Christmas presents, talks about college. And friends.

I was 'spoiled' and now I had to face reality.

My high school years are a bad memory. I avoided dating hicks with ambitions as truck drivers or working at the chicken factory. I left when I turned 18, back to the city. I worked as a receptionist of a Chiropractor, hung out with old friends, surrendered my virginity and lived in an apartment with four other girls.

It was there that I met Amy, and started to hook when I needed money. I needed money so hooking became my job, my pimp was Amy's pimp who had contacts with doctors and lawyers, bankers and fat corporate vice presidents. One took me with him to Mexico, another took me to Aspen. I met my sugar daddy and moved into his apartment.

Kept only for him I got board and started painting. I took classes, met Violet an art teacher and became her assistant. I got a job at a gallery. I became accepted, my days as a hooker were behind me. I married my sugar daddy, the idea of me running off scared him, better to nail me down.

I keep that part of my past hidden. Hopefully I'll never run into one of my 'dates'. My friend Amy met and married a sports personality. From hookers to wives and mothers.

Not my father's dream, I wish I had gone to college,
