Two Lonely People

A one night stand. I was working to earn money to stay in school. I had taken the semester off and was working nights at a motel. On my day off I would go down to this bar near the motel where a guy played guitar. I ordered a beer in a mug and sat and listened. I didn't have enough money to buy two beers and the waitress left me alone.

On my night out I left the musician a dollar, which was a big tip in those days. Over the weeks the waitress considered me a regular and we had small talk. One of those nights she asked if I wanted to go home with her after she got off at midnight. She was very frank and told me that she just needed a good old roll in the hay.

At her place, a small place in a small complex, she offered me a beer out of her refrigerator, told me it was on the house. She told me that she had wanted to be a stewardess but they didn't accept her. We talked and she told me that she had been in a car accident and had a bum leg, although I didn't notice anything. We talked for an hour before she said that I needed to either get on or leave. We had sex for the sake of sex, talking through it, nothing personal, like jacking off in a woman.

I stayed the night, neither one of us had to work till later that evening. We slept till noon and went to the art fair to spend some time. At this one booth, she sort of liked what was there, we stood with my arms around her, and I caught myself cupping her boob. When I noticed I withdrew my hand but she stopped me and told me that felt good. She worked nights till twelve and I went on at eleven with one night off a week. We made it work, I showed up in the morning and got in bed with her, and sometimes we had sex right then, other times not till we woke up around noon or one in the afternoon.

She figured out that she was my first, and was careful to teach me. It wasn't a point of discussion. For her, I was a college student and that was worth the investment. For me she was willing and was my first lover. Nothing came of it, I went back to school and in those days the only way to stay in touch was by letter or telephone. But for that semester we were two lonely people, and the physical touch was something we needed.
