Twenty Years Ago I Married A College Grad
I served tables in a small neighborhood bar. At nights it was me on the floor and the owner lady behind the bar. She was past middle age and cussed the fact she was past menopause. Her advice, get laid as often as you can, don't grow old and wish you had. So that night a college kid stopped in and sat at a table in the back. He told me his girlfriend had dumped him and he just needed to sulk, alone.
Mary, the owner told me sitting there was opportunity knocking. He needed to get laid and so did I. He was hurting for some motherly love, and he was a college boy. Land him and you'll have it made. And with that she got involved. Like it or not I was going home with him that night.
I left with him, we went to his apartment. Her clothes were still there, in fact several panties were on the bathroom floor. The place was filthy, dished in the sink, clean clothes in a laundry basket, not folded, not put up. The bathroom, a mess, filthy. I drew the line on the sheets and told him they needed changing. But there weren't any clean sheets. I had to hold my nose for sex. He got laid, and so did I. As soon as he was asleep I was cleaning the kitchen.
By the time he woke up the kitchen and bathroom were clean, the dirty clothes all picked up. The girl clothes in a bag, clean and dirty I didn't care. Not much for breakfast, I did the best I could. He woke up with a woman, not a college kid.
He was two years younger, making him a man was a job. Between me and Mary we made him grow up. He graduated and swallowing hard because he was younger, we got married. See, Mary told me, you caught a college boy. And he was a boy trying to be a man. Not only did he still need a mother, he needed a woman to teach a thing or two in bed. Maybe, just maybe, his girlfriend would still be his.
But he learned, he got a job in an office downtown. Used his degree and I cut back my hours at the bar. Mary was happy, she succeeded in getting me married to a college grad. It took a while for him to become a man, and have sex for my pleasure not just his.
I'm not complaining, I'm not bragging, but no one else in my family was married to a college grad.
