Big Town Girl, Small Town Resident

I served tables in a beer joint. Sometimes I got friendly with a customer. A guy was drunk, he stood up on the bar and pissed on me. A customer knocked his feet out from under him, knocking him to the ground. He turned to me and said he was leaving, if I wanted a life I could go with him. Ten years later I work at the day care. I live in a small town in rural Texas I had never heard of. I have a house, family.

Whenever I get bored, I remember that bar, hug my kids, fix breakfast.

I suppose that I've gotten used to it. Next up is the 4th of July celebrations. My husband's the Parade Marshall. Married to a man ten years older, going bald, owns the main street. He stopped in that night looking for directions. I showed him how to get back on the freeway, and he kept driving.
