I Cheated Once

I've been married for 14 years. I love my husband and he loves me. There's nothing I have to complain about. Oh typical things, he doesn't talk enough to suit me, I can't tell what he's thinking, but he's been a loving, responsible man who still thinks I hung the stars and moon even after all these years.

I cheated on him one time, eight years ago. The washer broke down and I went to a landromat. No attendant, and there was no one there except me and this guy. He was young, a college student, and really good looking. It was a really hot day, this time of year. I was wearing a sports bra and mini skirt. I intended to drop the laundry off and get right back home to the air conditioning. He came up to me and started talking and flirting. As I felt more at ease with him I flirted too.

We did it up against a dryer. I'd be telling a lie if I said he just took me and I let him. I was all over him. I went into a frenzy and wrapped my legs around him. I practially r*p*d the poor guy. Totally out of character for me. Turns out I was ovulating, but I realize that's no excuse. I never saw him again.

I got Plan B the same day, but I got pregnant anyway. I knew my husband wasn't the father because he had a vas after our second child was born. I terminated the pregnancy.

I'm not one who can hide things. The guilt ate me up and was making me sick. My husband noticed I was acting strange, breaking out into crying fits. He kept asking what was wrong, saying I ought to know that I could tell him anything. I said if I tell you this, you'll divorce me. He laughed and said, what did you do, cheat on me?

He wasn't laughing by the time I finished. I told him everything. He was angry, but he eventually forgave me. He was even a little sad by the fact that I terminated before talking to him about it. He has very strong convictions on that issue that I don't agree with, but it shows what a forgiving man he is. I've tried to make it up to him and I've never cheated again. He's never brought it up and he doesn't treat me any differently than before it happened. I still feel guilty though. I guess confessing here shows I'm still stuck somehow.

Be kind to yourself. You’ve learned your lesson and it biology to desire anyway.

You're allowed to make mistakes too. Forgive yourself and move on. Would giving hubby a one time passs or chance to get even, make you feel better?

I have to echo the first two commenters. Find a way to move past the guilt. Guilt can become an indulgence. Wallowing in it can become almost pleasurable.

Get therapy if you have to. Your husband obviously loves you dearly, and you're not enjoying what you have because of the guilt. Be fully there for your husband and kids.

All of us husbands enjoy ovulation days of our wives. These are the days we wish we could get all month. Think of husband only during ovulation days.

a mistake doesn't make you a slut. be honest and find someone for your husband to have an affair with your approval.
