So Much I Owe I Can Never Pay, He Knows From Above I Have A Son

My job was English translator for an oil company. I was born in a small town in Ukraine, my mother was a nurse, my father taught Economics at a small college there. I got the job through the state employment office.

The country manager became fresh with me, behind closed doors. I screamed but no one came. When he had me already penetrated me the door fell down. A man I didn't know took me out of there, I didn't see what he did with the country manager.

I was taken to a marriage bureau. I had to meet with men from all over Europe but I told them in private I had tuberculosis, and I couldn't work in a bordello. No one asked me to marry them. After a year I was sent to work as a desk clerk at a small hotel. A man came to stay, to look at a factory. He spoke English to me and offered to marry me to get me an exit visa.

He took me to a small town in Indiana, USA. When my US papers were in my hand he gave me a divorce, and a new name, and money and a new place to live. During the five years for my citizenship I studied at a local university.

My country Ukraine is invaded, my 'father' has died. I met a man at a job, I married him and have a son. One day I will tell my son of my town, of Ukraine, of the man who brought me here. One day, but not today, he is an American son. The only thing he needs to know. He was born with a winning lottery number in his hand.
