It Took Me Longer Than Normal To Grow Up And Be The Wife He Married
Back in college I had a pregnancy scare and got married before I had a miscarriage. Fear of being divorced kept me married, fear of being married sent me home to my parents. Very immature, but I was immature at the time. I finished college at our city college and went to work. Paperworkwise, I answered married, name of spouse, etc. He lived his life and more or less I kept up with his various girlfriends.
I got a call at work from a woman, she wanted to meet me and talk about Rob. My first reaction was that I didn't talk about my husband with strange women. She insisted, said she was in the lobby and wanted to talk, it was important. I went down, she went into a story about being with him and she had a baby and he was ignoring her, so she wanted me to pay the child support or she was suing us.
I called Rob and asked him if it was true. I had never heard of 'this' girlfriend. He said he didn't remember her and she wouldn't submit to a DNA test. Now I got pissed, I talked to a lawyer friend of mine about her. I didn't want anyone shaking down my husband. He corrected me, shaking US down. His debts are my debts and vice a versa. Well then, we would fight this together.
After many months, lots of lawyer time, we got a judge to order a DNA test which she ignored and the judge dismissed it. I hadn't spent so much time with him, at one point the judge asked us 'are you married?' We had lunch at a small sandwich shop and I told my husband I wanted to start where we left off. If he would take me I was ready to be his wife, and not only on paper.
It's been ten years from the day we first got married, I gave him a kid recently, and we are man and wife living together. If that gold digger woman hasn't shown up I would still be home with my parents.
