Trust Is Hard For Me, Now God Is Testing Me

I bought a small house in an older neighborhood, close to work, lots of trees. I had to take it as is, and deal with issues as they come up. I can't update or remodel as just buying the house has stretched me to the breaking point. Hopefully my car doesn't breakdown. I don't want a housemate, but reality forces me to get one. I decided not to have anyone I know move in.

My neighbor, a man in his sixties gave me a lecture about someone I don't know moving in with me. The argument ended by him 'taking' the other room and filling it with his niece when she graduates. I just met her.

Over the last weeks he has inspected my house for electrical, hvac, plumbing, appliances. He has lots of experience, it's a pre-inspection. He has hired a building contractor for the roof and structural. I didn't know about all these inspections. Now, he also wants to update the bathroom and kitchen, bring it into the 21st century.

I met his niece, she's a nice girl, but she will come into a compromised situation. A couple of other things, his lawn care guy is doing my lawn now. He wants his maid to come over once a week. And he and his buddy are painting the outside, how long before he is painting the inside? By the time he's done with me I'll have my dream bungalow.

I can't repay him. I know 'he would never let his daughter live in the place like I bought it'. I'm not his daughter. I mean right now he has a key so he can get the updates done, the painting. When his niece moves in, he will always have a key, and I have to go to bed knowing he can walk into my room when he wants to. I've never had to 'trust' like I now have to. I've never met anyone like him.

Make sure that the deed or ownership remains in your name. You are slowly losing control of your house and you don't want to be in a legal situation where your neighbor can make claims based on services rendered.

He may be nice today but he's already demonstrated that normal boundaries don't stop him from taking over.

Focus on the good that has come your way! I would do the same if I had extra money. I see him as a loving man, we all need someone to love. You can choose feel love or fear.

Meanwhile, to keep him from interfering with you snooze, you could put a lock on your door, bolt it from the inside, use a stop stick.

Also, have company over. This might force him to play his cards if he's got any alternative motives.

Tell him you don't want his niece living there.
Tell him you want an arrangement where you fuck him x number of times for so much per month.
Either that, or he'll take over completely.
