Conflict Between Culture And Education

This is about my friend. She is a wholesome woman, born and raised to be a mother. In her world all women do is get married and have a family. For some reason she went to school at a small state school and got a degree in business. That's how I know her, she works in our tax department in the sales tax department. She doesn't fit the description of a hot woman, she is rather plain really.

Because I work beside her, we have two persons to an office and I'm her supervisor, I know everything that is going in her life. She has oodles of nieces and nephews, and cousins. Everyday it's a birthday or something. She is very nurturing. But to get back to her problem, or situation. She has a college degree and the women where she grew up hardly ever graduate from high school, much less go to college. Even small state schools like she did. None of the men either, they are brute labor types, working mostly in the refineries. Her father doesn't talk to her because she thinks she is somebody and is always giving advise to her sisters and cousins. Good advise, but she is woman and she doesn't have any children, she shouldn't be giving advise, unless it is about how to clean a toilet or something.

I've introduced her to several bright, college educated men who would love to have a woman who was raised to pay attention to them and have children and take care of the house. These are men who work in the field, but are educated. They don't want women who have ideas or subscribe to a new world order. They want a woman like her, and she is the woman for men like them. But they are mostly white from the right side of town and she is from the other side of the tracks (freeway actually). There is a match here, I know it.

I have a man, he is a old school. He wasn't when we met, he was all about women empowerment. But now he wants old school. I have had to adapt. So I know more or less the type of man she is suited for.

Like I said this is about her, how to get her to up her standards for a more educated man, and at the same time have a man she can be what she was raised to be. She looks at the men from her growing up side, uneducated brutes in my opinion. Most of them can't even read. Maybe they are compatible in one way, but they don't want a more educated woman and she wants an uneducated brute. Maybe her father was right, why did she waste her time going to college, or even graduating from high school. She is in a no man's land world.

Sounds more like a conflict between a brainwashed academic and a real woman.

Wendy, don't take this the wrong way, but you sound like the type of a-hole who knows the ultimate correct answer to everything, and what's right and wrong for every other person's life.... If that sounds like a insult, then you haven't taken it the wrong way.
