An Honest View On Schooling For Girls
As children our parents put us in single gender schools. Grade -2 through grade 12. Although our home was male female integrated, we behaved much as we did in our schools. Boys played with boys, girls with girls.
Our college experience exposed us for the first time to mixed learning and mixed social behavior. I was put off by the boys. Not masculine behavior, outright bad behavior. I secreted myself back into a world of girls. Some of these girls were lesbians who didn't earn my liking. I was more comfortable with girls a lot like me. My forward vision included a man in my life, a home and family.
I turned 25 still single. 27 then 30. What was wrong with me? My brother brought one of his school friends. We hit it off immediately. Today I'm facing the decision of sending my kids to school. The physical facilities are impressive, the school looks like a school, but I really don't want my daughter surrounded by the school behavior. I am leaning towards sending her to my school.
There's time enough to deal with boy behavior, but six seems so young for that.
