I Am Selling Myself Off In Marriage
I am getting married in June. Everyone is so excited, I'm finally going to get married. Wow, I found someone. I don't want to get married, but not getting married has become a very serious lifestyle choice. Bottom line I can't afford to be single, and I can't afford to get married.
The man in question is older, divorced, with children. He is well off financially from the sale of a business. He 'needs' a wife for the obvious, cooking and cleaning. Sex is part of the contract of marriage but we have never had sex and probably won't. I know him professionally.
He gets what he needs, I get what I need. A contract. The devil though is in the details. I will be moving into his house, I live in an apartment. I have my car, it is a well used model with over 150 K miles on it. He said he would spring for another car for me. This house was built with a mother in law suite, for when his mother in law was living with him and his ex wife. I get the MIL suite. It is a looong walk from the master to the MIL suite, so I don't expect he will be making that trip very often, if ever.
So if you want you can wish me luck, or you can poopoo the idea. It's not loneliness, it's poverty that is driving me. I'm tired of living on coupons and postponing anything. The day after I get married I'm going shopping until I can't stand up anymore. I need everything, from sheets and pillow cases to panties and bras. I don't want to ever walk into a women's shelter again looking to see if someone donated a pair of shoes that will fit me. I don't want to ever again line up at the food pantry. I don't want to ever again ride the bus because I can't get my car fixed. I want to look 'smart' with my hair done. I will cook and clean and whatever else comes with this deal, as long as I don't ever again have to look to see if I have money to buy something.
So I am turning my back on my sisters, many of which live in poverty, but are too high minded to bend their ideas.
