I got into an argument last night with my live in boyfriend. We're both 24, and have been together 5, lived together 3 years.

I work at a crappy job cleaning houses everyday for a service. Bill works in a plant, but has a cushy job as a supervisor.

Anyway, he gets home 3 hours before me. I think he should have dinner ready when I get home. He says because he does the housecleaning, laundry, yard work, and works on our cars that dinner should be my duty. Is it really too much to ask that he should be able to start dinner too?

I don't think that's too much to ask. It's not that hard to put a one pot meal on the stove and heat it up or even prepare a nice dinner. He can work on other things around the house while dinner cooks and check on it periodically. Men just don't like the idea of doing "women's work" and so they balk when you whenever you ask them to. If he doesn't at least have the courtesy to have dinner ready for you when you come home after doing hard physical labor all day long, then he's not work being with.

Excuse me, but didn't she say the boyfriend does all the rest, housework, etc?
I wish my boyfriend would do ANY of that. All she has to do is cook? What's his phone number?

Yes. If he's doing everything else, it is too much to ask him to do dinner as well. Even if his job isn't physically demanding, supervising can be stressful.

My boyfriend and I both work long hours and we learned to make quick meals using a crockpot and other devices.

I suggest that you buy a crockpot and a crockpot cookbook. You put the incredients in the morning and when you come home, you have a hot delivious meal.

Another time saver is a rice steamer. It cooks rice in 10 minutes or less. I put the rice in and go shower. When I get out of the shower, I stir in a bag of frozen vegetables and any leftover chicken, beef, or shrimp we have. Served with soy sauce it is delicious.

You're lucky he doesn't leave you for a woman who does 50% of the chores.

maybe he could have dinner ready if you get back so late, and you could help with some yard work and stuff that can be left till the weekends? he shouldn't have to do everything.

You mean to tell us he does all the housework, laundry, yardwork, and maintains the vehicles and you expect him to cook supper too??? This man sounds like a Saint. If you don't want him,I'll take him!!!!! Get a grip girl and get off your fat ass and get cookin. You don't know how good you got it!!!! It's all in organization. Think and plan in advance. If you have to,cook on the wkends and freeze it in meal portions. I've been doing it for years and it works out fine. Good luck!!!

You must be kidding! You should be kissing that mans feet every time you see him, and if your not happy with your "crappy" job; instead of lying your fat ass about while he's doing what sounds like just about all the work, get yourself into night school or something of the sort so you'll qualify for a better job in the future. I also suggust you say a prayer every night that includes a part about him not dumping you because unless your some raving beauty with a body to match you'll be very hard pressed to find another guy like him.
