Intersex?

I was raised in a very sheltered and religious home. My Dad died in Iraq a week before I was born. My Mom never had any brothers and my Dad was the only male she had ever seen naked. So she had no idea what little boys were supposed to look like and as it turns out my Dad was very undersize between the legs. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Preschool, kindergarten and grade one through six I attended a Catholic elementary school. Gym class did not involve taking clothes off. So the only people who ever saw me naked were my mom and not since I was five years old and my doctor who elected to keep me ignorant though perhaps it was my Mom who made that decision.

The summer I was 10 which preceded the 5th grade, my Mom died in a car accident. Up to that point in my life I thought I was a boy. I had given zero thought to sex and knew little about it. Sex education was NOT taught in school and Mom's attitude was that I would find out all I needed to know on my wedding night like she did. Questions on the topic were not tolerated. The school I was in was very strict so pretty much any discussion of adult topics was forbidden and would result in severe punishment. The only kids I was permitted to associate with were other students at that school and never without some sort of chaperone. It is not an exaggeration to say that from birth to the summer Mom died I was never alone with any other child for even a minute.

I was in summer school that July learning about popes and Latin and memorizing the Baltimore Catechism when the principal, a nun, came to take me out of class. She took me to the office where a female police officer was waiting for me. She took me back to my house where I found a woman I had never met and learned she was my Dad's sister. I didn't even know I had an aunt. Her information was in my Mom's purse when she was killed.

After the funeral it was decided that I my aunt would move in and take care of me. She had her own home in another state and even a business but she said she had employees that would take care of business and I was more important.

Over the next two years there were a lot of changes. For one, I never got my hair cut again. I had seen boys with long hair before though none at our strict school. By Christmas the nuns were questioning my hair length and I had been sent home three times with a note reminding my guardian of the hair policy for boys at my school. Each time my aunt simply ignored the note then I was sent home with a note informing my aunt that I was being expelled over the hair cut policy.

I started public school mid year in January and it was a huge change. No more prayers throughout the day. No more uniforms. No more religious training. No more hair cuts.

But also no more friends. My aunt wanted me to expand my circle of friends to include non Roman Catholics. I was very shy so that didn't really work out too well.

One thing that did work out was that I was almost a year ahead of other students in the same grade. Academically the parochial school was superior. Most of my classmates in the new school were far behind me and so my straight A's in the old school turned into straight A's in advanced classes in the new school. That somewhat alienated me from the other students so again, not much in the way of new friends.

Unfortunately it was also during that time that my breasts grew. By the summer I was 11 I had tits that were almost b cup. My nipples were big and puffy and sore all the time. I didn't see any of the other boys growing breasts who weren't very fat and I was slender and always was so it was more obvious on me. Adding to that my by then shoulder length blond curls I appeared somewhat feminine. I wore baggy shirts which my aunt let me choose to hide them as I became quite self conscious.

The summer I was 12 my aunt took me aside and sat me down and told me what I was. She explained that the doctor told her that Mom told him not to tell me what I was. She explained to me that I was intersex. I had an X and Y chromosome but was testosterone insensitive and that I was turning into a girl.

I was devastated. I was shocked and confused. Nobody told me because everybody who knew thought I already did. Though that was a small number of people.

Also in our town and state, transitioning was not a thing. It was not permitted. Due to my Y chromosome, it didn't matter if I had tits and no penis and undescended testicles. I was to attend school as a boy, long hair and all. I could wear any clothes I wanted to that did not violate the extremely liberal dress code but I was a boy and that meant I would attend gym class with the boys.

My aunt didn't know that meant that I would be expected to take my clothes off for gym class and that all the boys would see the bra she made me wear for my C cup breasts.
