Making The Best Of A Boring Week With My Daughter And Family
Divorced I accompanied my daughter and her family for beach week. The truth is I was bored shitless. While they took the afternoon at the waterpark I went back to restaurant we had visited the night before. They had a nice bar, with a view of the intercoastal waterway.
It was me, myself and I. The bartender was nice, with my second drink we got to talking. She heard my bitch about being the fifth wheel with this holiday week at the beach. By four that afternoon when she got off we were friends. She agreed to a dinner date, at this place she knew on the mainland, near the trailer she was renting. I met her there, ditching my daughter and family.
I tried taking the conversation to other things but she wanted to bitch that night. Dead end jobs, made most of her money during the summer tourist season. "Don't worry", she wasn't going to charge me. The trailer itself had a malfunctioning air con unit, it was hot and humid. For being strangers she was more than willing. It was me who couldn't keep up, and she looked truly disappointed.
The rest of the week was uneventful. However, for her I had a soft spot, I had her name, where she worked and her work address. I got a bank check for a grand and mailed it to her, wishing her well. No return address.
