Under The Spell Of The Older Man Syndrome
I was at the DMV waiting my turn to get my unrestricted license, I had turned 18. Ahead of me was a man renewing his license. The long hot line. He spoke to me, not me to him. By the time I got to my turn, he was waiting for me. He told me I was bright young woman and wished me all the best as I headed off to college. He walked me to my car and walked around it, explaining it was an old habit from his military stint, 'don't assume, make sure' before you get in.
At home I couldn't keep my mouth shut. By the time I went to bed, I was cautioned to keep a cool head here, I had been struck by lightning.
It's been a long time now, I've renewed my license already. But that lightning bolt, it twisted, realigned me, brought me to my knees. I work for him, among other things. I have eyes only for him. There has to be a reason, why on that very day, I was placed beside him.
