I Love Reading About L Romances, Now Mine Is Exposed
I have an uncle who puts two and two together. I have kept my preferences to myself as far as family is concerned. That includes social media. I work in DC and share an apartment with three other women. In a two bedroom, that puts us in a two and two arrangement. My uncle showed up without warning or invitation and pushed his way into my bedroom and bathroom.
He confronted me and forced me to admit to our living together. He put me on notice, break it up, or he's talking to my parents. My family is not in any form progressive, or liberal, or open minded. I hear nothing from them except getting married and having children. The one metric for all of us girls is number of children.
I have a tremendous difficulty using the L word, even here. I can't stand in front of the mirror and say the L word. It's not a word ever used in front of me by my roommate family. We use best friend and roommate. My bedroom and bathroom leave little to the imagination, caught off guard it was obvious we are bedmates.
From here telling my parents is easy, not in person. I have a made up a boyfriend, a real person, he doesn't know I have an invented relationship. I can't ever see myself in a wedding gown being given away. I have never dated a male, not even at Prom, I went with my best friend at the time.
