Old School Girlfriend Living
In my early twenties I was careless and a spendthrift. I woke up one day and my car as missing. Three days later the police found it, my car had been repossessed in the middle of the night. Now at twenty five my credit prohibited a car, my credit card balances were out of sight, and due to my credit score my apartment lease wasn't renewed plus I owed back rent. Middle class girl on the street, on foot. And my job was also in question, I had a bunch if unexcused absences. My boss, that dear old man sat me down to give me the news, I was on probation.
I was required to meet with him weekly. He told me I was immature and reckless, impulsive and disobedient. Whether I liked it or not I needed a man to put me on the straight and narrow. I wasn't in a position to tell him to fuck off, I answered without thinking. 'And you are the man that is going to straighten me out?' You bet you. That's how I crawled under his thumb.
I started with a lecture on obedience, do what you're told when you're told. A lecture on living within your means. No credit cards, strictly cash living. No apartment no problem, rent a room with an old lady next to a bus stop.
