Forced To Be White

I’m coming to terms with being considered white. I am a mixed person. And I didn’t realize I was considered white. I grew up in a minority household. I see the world in a different light. I see everyone as equal no one better than any one else. I do my best to treat people with respect and dignity. Yet with all the racial politics in the us I can see how I’m set aside and treated like a white person. I’ve gotten offended when I felt my black friend acted not smart or dumbed down to try to who knows what. I know he’s smarter than that, why does he do this. To a peace white people? I’ve also been accused of being a skin head by some Black people and attacked. With Hispanics I constantly have issues not sure why, I speak Spanish I know the culture well I grew up in it. Yet for some reason they treat me like I’m not one of them. My whole life has been a little confusing to be honest. Almost 40 years old and have come to terms that I’m considered white and that’s that. Kind of sad the level of prejudice out there. I get it over the phone and on paper for having a full Spanish name from white people and get it in person from minorities. Holy good god. The one thing I noticed is that people’s relate to others on looks and in America you are treated a certain way on the way you look. Makes me sad sometimes. I’m the weird white person who doesn’t understand he’s white and the weird Hispanic person wannabe, seriously takes Hispanics a while to believe I’m Hispanic. To the eye I’m white or European. I don’t see myself that way though I’m of mixed origin and don’t really believe myself to be that white. Yet I come to accept the white gene expressed itself in me and that is my reality. Seriously makes me sad.
