In The End I'm Jimmy's Housewife And The Mother Of His Children
I'm Canadian, from the great plains. Grew up farming, seven brothers and sisters. Family, church, school. The boys got drafted into farming and the girls drafted into housewives. I don't have a thing against housewives, but it wasn't for me. I joined the Army after school and was deployed in Canada, never went overseas. It was during my Army life that I put two and two together, and why housewife was never going to be my profession. I became involved with a friend and at the end of my commitment moved in with her to attended a small college in Toronto.
On a trip back home, my first in three years, all the men outside the women in the kitchen I was called out for not being married, and not having children. In a few minutes every sister and sister in law, mother and aunt were on me for throwing my life away, my child bearing years wasted. Guilt overwhelmed me, I married Jimmy from my growing up days and in rapid succession produced three children. I also moved back to the womb.
With my oldest starting junior high I told Jimmy, sorry but I'm a lesbian. I love you, like I love my older brother. But you need to move out of the bedroom. In our community every one knows everything, and being kicked out of the bedroom isn't an only thing, but not for a woman in her thirties who still needs a man's attention. Unless, she's lesbian. I found out the high school librarian, the nurse in Dr. Spencer's office, the tax collector were all lesbians. A small group, all women have children. But I was the youngest with a still very hungry husband.
After an argument telling Jimmy I was fed up with being a housewife, I found myself pressed against the island in the kitchen, before being taken back to the bedroom. I had to explain to my daughters their father's hunger, and one day they would have to feed the lion. Jimmy moved back into the bedroom, my short lesbian freedom was over. My lesbian friends told me I acted out too early, thirty five is prime beef and my husband wasn't on a diet. Give him what he wants, be firm, but bide your time. And I can't support myself.
I'm a housewife twenty four seven, my girls take up a lot of my time, Jimmy wants me home so I'm no longer working part time. Since I acted out, Jimmy's been hungry, and he doesn't eat out or at another table. He only wants home cooking. And I'm talking sex, not roast beef and mashed potatoes. I guess lesbian isn't on the table.
