The Truth Shall Set You Free. It's Not Just A Saying, Not Anymore
I stood there as he told me I wasn't normal. Sanity requires you to accept who you are. Race, time in which you're born, your parents you didn't pick. If you are not normal, you have to accept that as well. Gay, lesbian, homosexual. That's not normal. I'm not normal. I'm homosexual, a lesbian.
And so began my head trip. He is my neighbor. He hangs the US flag on his front door. He puts out political endorsements for conservative Republican candidates. He explained the difference. He is retired, he was a mechanical engineer by trade, a CEO by title. He has money. He owns the house I rent with my partner. He talked to me because I hung a Pride flag on the front door. That's when he told me I wasn't normal.
I love him. For the first time in my life, I'm in love with a man. That's normal, by his definition. I didn't set out to fall in love with him. He put one over on me. He talked his talk about the world going to hell because of the abnormals wanting to run the world. They lie to you, he tells the truth. That's what got me thinking. Like he said, you can't ignore your logic, when the facts are presented.
I voted Republican, just like he told me. First time for me. I'm in the closet about it, in my lesbian world everyone is progressive, and they lie to each other and to themselves. I lost my way with Hillary, before I could vote. That's when I stopped thinking for myself. I became a follower. With all the other lesbians.
Until I met him. That's when I had my eyes opened. Slapped in the face by the truth. It took a long time to reason my way through it. But I saw it, I was alone with my partner. I saw it. The Republicans get angry when they are lied to, and for good reason. The Progressives get angry when they are told the truth. I got angry, until I started to get angry when I was lied to.
I let him have sex with me. I'm learning about what men do and want. My body, but not when he wants sex, then it's his body. I never thought I would be in love like this. My partner thinks I'm crazy, she's just one step away at getting angry she's being lied to.
