Accidently Becoming His Girl
I was an afterthought hire and was put in a temporary office in the executive section. The cofounder and head if everything except sales and operations met me at the coffee bar. He liked how I made his coffee and I became his coffee girl. Because I wasn't a secretary I got a lot of criticism from coworkers, mostly women. It didn't bother me, I liked serving my father.
Even after I got a permanent workstation, that's a cubicle, he still had me get him his coffee. Sometimes he had me stay and talk with me. About everything personal in my life, and advice. People got jealous. One of those days I mentioned my birthday coming up. How old? 25. He said he had graduated from business school 25 years ago. About that same time. It took a few minutes and he said his graduation was the day I was born. And without warning he hugged me, a bear hug, a man hug, and I put my arms around his waist.
All of a sudden I was his favorite, he personally took over my professional growth. Promoting me, salary increases. Stock tips, stock options. And personal hugs and soft kisses on my lips and cheeks. I was under his umbrella. Personal invitations. Personal. He didn't so much as make love to me, he absorbed me into him. I was no longer an employee, I was his emotional investment.
I rose in the corporation, back to the office next to him. Still his coffee girl, on steroids.
Today it's ten years later, he turns sixty. His hugs, and kisses are just as intense as ever. But now he makes love to me. Slowly. On my birthday he treats me to something special, and he did take me to his 25th reunion. His 'girl', Not a title you apply for.
