The Wolf And The Lamb, The Lamb Is Within Us
Every once in a while the topic comes up as to who your first was. Some had a high school boy, others had a man down the street. Others didn't lose it till college. Everyone is different, but everyone remembers clearly their first time. I am no different.
My first time wasn't until I was already working after college. In fact I had never had a date, even gone to dinner. Always with several others, most always with other girls. I had resigned myself to it. I wasn't looking, didn't even know where to look. My ideas didn't gel well with men. I had managed to go to law school and was working at a small boutique law firm. The client base was all corporations. I spent a year as an associate, and this was my first ever meeting with a client.
My boss was a partner, a woman in her mid thirties. She was a go getter, and encouraged me to break barriers. At times I thought she had to be a lesbian, I never once heard her talk about some man or ex boyfriend. It was at that meeting with this man, a new client, that she reached under the table and held my hand. She spoke calmly, professionally. I listened, all the time my hand trapped by hers. After a while she was caressing my hand with her thumb. After the meeting we said goodbye to the man and she said she would talk to her committee to see if they could have him as a client.
She called me to her office. "I don't want you ever to be the lamb to a wolf like him. Promise me for now and forever". She proposed to the committee that they not take him as a client. Wolves like him should never be allowed around our young associates or staff members. With that, she put her hands on both of my shoulders and exacted a promise to her that if he or any wolf like him came near me I would run to her immediately. The firm took him as a client.
Well, the ice was broken. And not too much later I found myself in bed with her. She went step by step, teaching me. Showing me how much she loved me and why I was to love her back as much as she loved me. For reasons that are left to science, when she pressed herself to me, I pressed back and when she kissed me, I surrendered. That night was more than just my first time. That night was my initiation into love in the flesh.
Some time later, months later, she brought up that man again. That wolf. She told me how when she was a young student a wolf like him had taken her and done things to her that she still could not put out of her mind. And seeing a man like him triggered all those memories. Again, she pleaded with me to promise her, that I would never let a wolf like that near me. That night we did not make love, that night she held me tight to her.
The wolf in her life turned out to be a professor, and he was still the wolf in her life and she was unable to resist him. When he called she answered. When he asked for her she went. When she went she came back with his smell on her. The night before we met that prospective client was one of those nights. Her only relief was to fall in love with a girl, in this case she fell in love with me.
It was some time, I was beyond thirty then, when a wolf had me for dinner. I don't mean he invited me to dinner, I mean he had me for dinner. I was his lamb and he devoured me. I walked funny, or thought I did. I was embarrassed to tell her. What she had prohibited me, he did to me. Nothing was sacred. he had taken quite literally my virginity. As a rational attorney I rationalized it. But when he called, I answered. And when he beckoned, I went; for more of the same. I was his lamb. And he was the wolf.
Overcome by guilt I confessed to her, one night after we had made love. I turned on the light, covered myself and told her, I had to tell her something. The wolf had come. And I was his lamb. She shook her head when she heard me. She had to hug me, so I let her. Again we slept without making love again.
The lamb within us can't be tamed, she told me. "When the wolf comes, the lamb within us offers ourselves up to him. If it weren't so, where would there be any children? Should you become pregnant, should you choose not to, I will love you and you will always have a place with me."
Her wolf, when he howls she listens. My wolf, when he howls I listen. We wrap ourselves in each other's arms, and go when we're beckoned. Still under forty she allowed the event to happen, myself a little over thirty allowed the event to happen. The wolves demand it from us. The lamb within us must go to them, to please them, to deliver for them their children.
