Had His Baby Without Telling Him

I was in my late 30s, divorced, and living away from my hometown for a while. It took my ex husband years to decide for sure he didn't want kids, and now I could hear my biological clock ticking louder every day. In my new city, I went by another name. I met a good looking but introverted young college student and seduced him. He was perfect for what I had in mind. I took his virginity and he was smitten and wanted a serious relationship with me, but I kept my distance emotionally and strung him along.

When we got to the stage that unprotected sex was going to happen, I told him I was on the pill. Actually, I hadn't been on the pill since my divorce. I wanted a child that would be mine alone. I was financially secure enough to stay home and raise a child without anyone else's support.

I began secretly using charts and fertility monitors, and I managed to be with him often during my fertile days. After three months I missed my period. I left town without saying a word to him, and prayed I wouldn't miscarry.

When my daughter was born, I raised her myself as I'd planned to. She's the light of my life. She's a freshman in college this year, and I think she'll make the dean's list. I told her that her father was an old friend of mine who died when she was a baby. I did have a male friend, an older truck driver (we were never intimate) who was single and was killed in a crash after she was born. My daughter puts flowers on his grave.

I'm to the point where I can admit how selfish I was, but I don't feel as bad as I should. I guess I'm a sociopath or a psychopath or something. I've been thinking about everything that happened. I made a 19 year old naive student a father without telling him, I've lied to my daughter for 18 years, and a dead man who was only a friend gets flowers regularly from the daughter of a woman he probably wouldn't even remember if he were still alive. I don't feel anything about any of it, good or bad, except I love my daughter and I'd do it all again to have her.

One day she will do a DNA test. For sure the truth will come out eventually.
You are correct, you are a psychopath. No wonder your ex didn’t want kids with you.

I feel sorry for the young man. Yeah, he probably thought he won the lottery, having a hot older woman take an interest in him. But he fell for her and then she abandoned him with no reason given. Who knows how that affected him long term, he was so young and inexperienced. And he doesn't know he's got a daughter in college herself now. And lady, what about your daughter? You told her a dead guy was her father to keep her from being curious about who her real father is. How do you think she'll feel about you if she finds out?

I don't see where any of this Rises to the level of you being a sociopath or a psychopath. Yes it was a bit cold to for you to break that young man's heart. I mean you, an older experienced and I'm assuming attractive woman who took his virginity and then fucked the bejeasers out of him for a few months. My bet is if you told him you just wanted him to impregnate you and then have nothing to do with him he would have he would have said hell yes but either way I don't see the harm in it he knows nothing. Maybe lying to your daughter wasn't the best thing but is probably better to tell her that then tell her what you actually did. And she has someone to mourn where's the harm. Assuming you were a good mother to your daughter, Lighten up on yourself, nobody is perfect even the morality police in the comments above. there's a lot worse shit that goes on in this world.

Ha, the 5th commenter said, "c**nt you should have masturbated that c**nt" then signed it "peace." Hilarious.

This woman wouldn't take my advice, but she should come clean to her daughter before much more time passes. Tell her the truth, and then tell her you'll help her try to find her real father if that's what she wants. You should help her understand that you knew it was wrong, but you did it because you wanted a baby so bad and that she was the best thing that ever happened to you. Tell her you regret the actions but not the result. If she's big hearted enough to put flowers on the grave of the man she thinks is her father, I think she'd understand and forgive you.
