I Raised Her Right
I got pregnant by another man while cheating. I loved my husband, but I got bored in bed. He was not very open-minded about sex and was hard to communicate with because he got his feelings hurt easily over not being good in bed. We married young, and I thought it would get better with practice, but it didn't.
I am a nurse in the ER who has always worked nights and a sucker for men in uniform. Let’s just say, over the years, a lot of police officers, EMTs, and firemen working in conjunction with the ER got lucky in a spare empty room on the floor, or in a car or ambulance in the back of the parking lot. A hushed whisper got out about me and my thing for men in uniform.
I messed up my birth control, missed my period, and I knew it was not my husband's. The actual father was also married with kids, and I didn’t want to mess up both our families over some cheap sex in the back of a hospital parking lot. So, I made sure to have sex with my husband at the right time to cover it up by fudging dates. I never told my husband or the man I cheated with.
My husband raised Elly, thinking she was his own. I lucked out that she looked enough like us that no one questioned anything, and Elly became his true pride and joy.
I thought I was scot-free. She found out through a '23andMe' test, and it took her a long time to forgive me, but she didn’t tell her 'father' because she loved him too much to do that. We went through hard times, and she hated me for years. She moved past it a few years after she got married. And in the long run, it actually brought us closer in a crazy way. She showed up at my doorstep in tears. She was a mess, and I was scared to death that something bad had happened. She was actually guilt-ridden because she had cheated on her husband with a coworker after a dry spell followed by e.d. (erectile dysfunction) with her husband. She was heartbroken her first time cheating, and what made it worse is she spent years hating me for being a cheater, and now she did it herself. We cried together. I comforted her and assured her I still loved her dad, and she could still love her husband, but everyone has needs, and few tell the truth about how they really meet them.
She has since always confided in me about her infidelities in her marriage, of which there have been several now, because she knows I understand that it happens. I've also helped be her cover story when she is out messing around on my son-in-law. It's not like I can judge her. Marriages get dry, and I did it for years. And I would absolutely, even at my age, do it with the right man in uniform. The truth is, I am proud of her. She's a chip off the old block. She's like her momma, and she's living her best life!
