All Babies Are Welcome

At 28 I became pregnant with a married man from work. He dipped his pen in the company ink, I broke the rules having an affair with a married man. Now I was pregnant. Being who I am I very definitely worried, but not about money. I was embarrassed letting my mother know. But I never for one minute considered an abortion, or an adoption. My baby, my life.

At 13 weeks I had a miscarriage. I was devastated. My mother patted my hand. The clinic was cold and standoffish, this happens all the time. He was so sorry, and patted my little head. I became depressed, felt alone and unloved. One friend said maybe it was for the better, considering the situation.

I got a call from his wife, she came over. She held me and let me cry. In a few months you can try again. She invited me to join her women's group, she was insistent, I needed women around me, not men. I was the youngest, the 'young' wife. The motto per se was 'all babies are welcome'. I felt surrounded by mothers, who fully understood my loss and fully supported me trying again. I went to a class on Wednesday evening to help prepare women for motherhood. Everyone there was looking forward to welcoming babies in their life.

After six months I became pregnant again. I was under immediate care of this wonderful woman doctor. My new church home prayed with me, all babies are welcome. My class had several expectant mothers and we bonded right off. My baby father gave me all the support, as did his wife, at home, at church. All babies are welcome.

I have a bouncy baby boy, I work part time, my babies other mother sits for me, or my baby goes to Mother's Day Out at church. I officially joined my new church, and I am in an all young women's group. As well as in my other mother's women's group.

My life experience with a baby is so much more than I ever imagined. My church life is so nice, I am fully supported. My mother has gotten over her hesitations, still trying to think through my partnering situation. My son's father is all in, full time. I share my life with the whole family. All babies are welcome, and so are their mothers.
