I was raised proper. A man takes you as woman you belong to that man. It was a warning, you never get over the man that guest took you, so your legs crossed.

A man took me when I was seventeen, two weeks before I was legal. I was on a campus early for orientation at the college I was going to attend. I was embarrassed about it, shamed. But like I was told, you never get over the man that took you. That's pretty much like it was. I was his girlfriend long before he knew.

I'm one of those fortunate girls, the man who took me kept me, didn't through me away like you throw out an old rag. I've done my share of cooking and ironing too. Being raised like I was those are not chores. He's done his share of keeping me in a house and watching over me. That's not a chore for him, it's the way he was raised. He was raised proper too.
