Do you know what invention has been the greatest for bedwetters? Diapers? Noo, wash machine has been!
Before the invention and diffusion of this machine, when someone (kid, teen or adult) wet the bed, his or her sheets and mattress were roughly cleaned where peed, then laid to dry to the sun on a balcony or window,with the stain in full sight of all the neighbourhood: "all the people" could know of the accident!
When I was 7, I had a very heavy bedwetting accident with pee dream (I dreamt to pee in the school urinators), awakening in the morning in a puddle. Sheets and mattress were put out to dry, and all the courtyard saw them: what a shame!
At 14, I had a lighter accident, lightly wetting only a sheet ( I awoke just in time!). At morning, the sheet was almost dry, but my mom put out the pajamas to dry (without tell me anything); I did not like this.
At last, at 15 I had a heavy "dirty wet dream", soiling the pajamas and a sheet with my stuff; mom also put them out to dry, after cleaning: I felt this very humiliating!
The famous Italian serial killer Donato Bilancia, after the capture and arrest, remembered to a psychologist when, at 10 or 11, had a bedwetting accident. His mom put the wet mattress on the balcony of his home in Genoa, so all the opposite neighbours could see it and deride him, and he suffered very much for this humiliation. What's more, in the opposite apartment lived one or two some age girls, making the humiliation some more unbearable. Other times, he awoke at night realizing to have peed himself in the bed, and he tried to dry the bed with the body heat, so that at morning his mom should not notice the wetting. No comment!
