Middle Class Right Down The Middle, With A Secret

I grew up 'middle class'. My father worked at his job, it was in town and we lived in the suburbs. My mom worked part time for our church. She us very religious. We had what we needed, a nice house, good schools, summer holidays. At 16 I went to New York, to see Phantom. College was a choice, I wanted out of state, my father said in state is good enough. My father was overprotective, my social life church. I was a real virgin. Oh, and I have a brother.

One day my mom told me I had to stay home for dinner, my dad wanted to talk to us. I helped mom with dinner, meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Dad was himself, like he always was. We got the third degree, like always. Then BOOM. Dad had sold his company. For nine figures. And we had to keep it quiet.

Nothing changed, dad went to work, mom worked at church, I finished college, still the same old virgin. We didn't move, didn't buy a car, didn't go to St. Moritz. We went to grandma's like every other summer. Same clothes, same hairdresser. Middle class right down the middle.

We never knew my dad owned the company. We never knew what he did. My dad's a F genius. He makes things that make lots of money. No secretary in a hidden condominium. No employee revolts. His employees love him, I mean love with a capital L. He sold the company because the fools had money to loose. He still works there, runs it for them. A regular employee like everyone that works there.

I did give it up, lost it, my virginity. A nice guy from church. After we got married. He isn't in on the secret. Only us chickens know about it, and M who looks after dad's personal affairs. My brother got tires for his car, I got a new comforter and sheets, mom got a new lamp for the living room, dad got the usual, and my new husband got a new set of wrenches. Christmas like always, church on Christmas Eve, and I surprised no one when I told them I am pregnant.
