Respecting A Man's Privacy
In my immediate post college period I fell in with a gym rat from work. She really did have six pack abs, body builder physique. She wasn't show oriented but very much for her own self esteem and liked me complimenting her. We talked a lot about guys and all their problems. The hierarchy problem, the toxic manipulation, the finger in your face, etc. But what we talked about most were our sexual fantasies, which violated our views on guy behavior. We agreed we wanted a 'man' not a 'pussy'.
One day, after I had been in the gym for over a year a man crossed paths with me. He had this thing about him, he did talk down to me, explaining the unexplainable. He did expect my undivided attention, and when in a multi person setting for me to have his back and pick up after him. I got a lot about the manwomen who he rejected, he how he wanted a womanwoman. But in spite of his words he liked my physique, as I continued to perfect my body builder look.
I got for Valentines from him, a box of chocolates, red roses, and red lace panties. I was taken aback, really? Panties, wasn't that forward? A ring came afterwards, at dinner. Now what do I do? My friend texted TAKE IT! The morning after I don't really know if he was disappointed.
Time rolled on, a week, a month, the wedding day came and went and I was doing the dishes. My friend was there and asked me, 'how is it?' Well, I thought I should be honest. He's bossy, he wants things, he wants order. He likes feminine underwear, not comfortable. He talks louder when I don't listen to him. He 'owns' the remote.
'What about sex?' she asked me. Now I was caught in a corner, one thing is fantasy, the other intimacy. I became uncomfortable, embarrassed. I could not talk about it. I felt I was betraying him. She listened, said something about ok, hope you like it, whatever he's doing to you. And we left the conversation.
And that's the rub isn't it? What a man does with his wife is his business. A wife can't betray him. That I think is the difference between 'sex' and 'intimacy'. What happens in the bedroom stays in the bedroom, including the red lace panties.
