A Reality None Of Us Wants To Accept Or Believe

As a young college student I watched romantic movies, read romances and believed these romances were true. My personal experience never happened like that. Emotional abuse, physical deprivation, heart broken, I left college convinced that romance as depicted was a fantasy. I returned home and walked into a marriage with a suitable man, approved by my father who gave me away.

I became a mother before becoming a wife.

I have not witnessed the fairy tale, not once, not ever. I really wish that the depictions were not there, to mislead other young women. The truth is far different. My situation, married as I am need not be for others. I wish it would be different, but it isn't.

My advice, steal yourself for disappointment, love comes in a rush, a wave overcomes you. But just as the wave comes it leaves just as sudden. It's not for women to be together for a lifetime, other than sisters, women are meant for a man, and visa versa. It's the law. The law of nature.

That's profound, thanks for the confession. Maybe it will save just one stary eyed girl from the prison of marriage.

Same here, after my gf suddenly dumped me at 22 I was devastated. My HS gf went off to college and although she wanted us to get married she hardly ever came home. Then she told me she was leaving the state for a different college. That closed that door. Almost a year later I thought I had met a soulmate. She just used me about 18 months, graduated the local college and immediately dumped me. She dumped me very hard, so sudden and so sad for so long.
I gave up on the soulmate or fantasy that we grow up hearing. I married a suitable lady and had a couple of kids. She talked me into getting married and once we had kids it was over for me as far as that special someone.
