Garbage Day
It was around 2:00am in the morning and it was garbage day. I was going to put the garbage out and my wife was still awake. I was in my underwear and my wife asked if I was going out the way I was. I wasn't planning on it but said no one was awake at this hour to see me if I did. She made it quite clear that I was not to go out in my underwear. I still wasn't planning on it but again mentioned no one would see.
I decided I better listen to the wife. I took off my underwear and went to put out the garbage. I came back in and she siad I was not to go out that way. I repeated to her that she said I was not to go out in my underwear and did exactly as she said. She said I knew what she meant and she couldn't believe me. I joked about going for a walk and she if I was I could put something in the mailbox for. I told her the mailbox was too far away. She said it was only a block away and she knew I would chicken out and started clucking like a chicken. I agreed to do and took the envelope and my phone. She wanted me to take a selfie of me putting the envelope into the mailbox to make sure I really did.
I walked down our street which was rather dark to the corner. I now had to walk along a rather well lit street that during the day has a lot of traffic on it but at this hour it was quiet. I had to go about 3 quarters down the block as that was where the mailbox was. I took a selfie of me putting the envelope in to prove to my wife I did it. I turned to start walking back and saw a car heading down the road towards me. It was still a distance away but I knew I couldn't make it back to my corner and there was no place I could quickly jump in to hide. I ran further away to the next block and went up it and hid. I waited until the car past and went back to the main street and started back to my corner. Once again there is a car heading towards me so I run away and back up the street again until it past.
I went back to the main street and started back to my corner. I was almost at my corner when I car pulls up from my street. The saw me and we made eye contact. I panicked, turned around and tried to run away to the other street again. There was a car stopped looking at me. There was now a car behind me and a car in front of me and both drivers were out with their phones pointed my way. I didn't know what to do so I decided I would just run to my street and home. I had to run right past the one car and was getting away from them but came up across a woman walking her dog. She lived a few houses away from mine and knew me. I froze with fear and just stood there. She said, "Should I ask or is it better I dont?" I didn't respond and she told me to go home which I did.
I got home and my wife asked what took so long. I didn't tell her anything but showed her the selfie of me putting the envelope on the mailbox. She asked again why it took so long and worried something had happened. I told her I just went for a leisurely walk in the cool night air. She laughed and figured it was something like that and added that she thinks I am an exhibitonist. I guess there was no harm as you made it home safe. I wasn't going to mention the cars, the drivers , the neighbor and the pictures they had of me. I just prayed it would not get back to my wife and it's been a few months with nothing so far.
