Stand By Your Man

I was going through some pictures on my phone and found 'the picture'. It was used to blackmail him, and that became a fight to the finish. He was my lover, or better said, I was his mistress. Silent, quiet, hidden, mistress.

The picture itself is innocent, at a ballgame, afternoon, we were sitting together, the picture taken by another executive's lover, used to blackmail him because of a kickback scheme he had uncovered. But that day, it was our time together, after the ballgame we went to my apartment.

He refused to resign, the scheme went up the ladder and involved a board member. He got paperwork, and a confession, written. The blow up was terrible. He hid me away, another state, another city. When it cleared up he quit because of the cover up that followed.

I am his mistress, we don't work together, I love him. He has a job for a small private company.

When I remember the hell he went through because of dishonest coworkers, trusted until he uncovered what they were doing.
