Third Time Is The Charm, Isn't It. Grandmother, Aunt And Now Me

I am seriously asking whether homosexuality runs in families?

This is my situation. My grandmother, on my father's side, is a lesbian. Of course it was hidden for all those years until after my grandfather died. She was married by force when her father drew the line and offered my grandfather to fund a small hospital and clinic where my grandfather lived. My grandmother by all accounts went kicking and screaming. My grandfather as you can well imagine had no qualms in grabbing her by the hair and hauling her off to her fate. My grandmother had four children, of which my father is the youngest.

My aunt, my father's sister is a lesbian. In her case she was taken by force at a party in college, forced on the floor and lost her hymen in front of everybody present. Taught a lesson about mouthing off to a man, didn't it? She got pregnant and he gave her two options, married or abortion. Not being able to come to terms with an abortion, and from a family where out of wedlock pregnancies are disownment she got married under protest. In her case her husband had papers.

Then I come along, a generation later. I'm a lesbian, but it is a more progressive time. Then my parents showed up unannounced and found me living with my partner. Evidence is everywhere, one bed in a one bedroom, underwear of both of us on the floor to the bathroom, sex toys on the bathroom counter, a Pride flag painting in the living room. I got an ultimatum.

Marriage, or forever vanished from the life of family. My grandmother says marriage, no question, My aunt says marriage, no question. It was only a matter of time before I was found out anyway. My grandmother has a friend back in my country who finds men for women who have green cards or citizenships, who make good husbands (I have citizenship because my mother had papers). These men many times marry lesbians, not so much disclosed as hinted at. My grandfather was well aware of my grandmother's proclivity and my aunt married a man who was well aware of her kind when he got her pregnant. I'm duly warmed that I'm desirable because of my age and I will have children, after all I'm the female in the proposed arrangement.

The man that my grandmother dug up is an engineer with a PhD in Metallurgy. He wants to move quickly, he is 42 and he lost out on a woman who ran away crying. This time time is of the essence, and I will have to go back home to get married. He wants a 'test' of virginity, duh, I'm a lesbian. Right now the wedding is set for mid April, two weeks from now. I'm not getting cold feet, I know that being vanished is worse than death for me. It's not that I will never again see my girlfriend, my aunt said that he spoke to this man and as long as I behave I can keep her. By behave he means get pregnant.

Both my grandmother and aunt lived long marriages. Men where my family is from don't have such a problem as men in the US do. Lesbians are frowned on and hidden, but lesbian wives are usually allowed a companion. But the countdown is here, and I will be pregnant in a month or so and I don't really know where I will end up living because my husband's job decides that for me. Just don't send me to Detroit, that's all I pray for.
