Election Made To Become Lifetime Sisters,
Following a request by my boss and lover I agreed to 'surrender' myself to her husband. As uncomfortable as I imagined it was a lot easier than I thought. These encounters with her husband continued until I was at ease with his lovemaking.
A year later she asked me to share the most precious experience with her, hold hands with her and allow a pregnancy to happen. After three months we were both pregnant. For the pregnancy I moved in with her and her husband. He started referring to us as his, and we didn't set the record straight. Soon enough no one questioned who we belonged to.
Over the following five years, we cemented ourselves to him. No longer did we refer ourselves as girlfriends, we referred to ourselves as sisters. No longer did we pretend to be independent of each other, we were completely interdependent. From time to time we heard references to polygamy, references to polyandry, and from one old man we had a plural marriage.
We were then into our thirties, we had five children under six between us, we traveled to Hawaii together to spend a few weeks in a rented cottage. A young woman, a high school graduate, talked with us in the airport waiting lounge and told us she would like to join us.
Her age bothered us, but her enthusiasm excited us, we would deliver to our husband a new concubine. She was very excited. And our husband on arrival welcomed her into our family. A new concubine in his house meant he kept her with him during our vacation. By the time we returned to Colorado, she was with her first child.
It's been ten years since she came into our family, she is our younger sister, twenty since we first agreed to become sisters. We live on inherited ranch land, home school our children. Our lifestyle is not secret, but we don't make it public. Twenty years, two decades, we've been sisters, one decade with our younger sister. We would never willfully give up our life together.
Call it what you want, we call it family.
