I was driving down to Cornwall to visit an elderly relative. I made the fatal mistake of travelling on the Saturday after the schools broke up for the summer holidays. Anyone who has used the M5, particularly between Bristol and Exeter will know that things can be extremely slow moving on that stretch of Motorway. Although I haven't been in that part of the world for many years now, I doubt whether things have improved. Anyway, I had switched from the M4 on to the M5, and intended to stop at the services at Easton-in-Gordano (I think that's what it's called) for a drink and a snack. And a pee, since I had no intention of wetting myself, at least not until after I'd visited my Great Aunt. But the traffic on the slip road was stationary, and backing up on to the main carriageway, so I decided to skip it and go on to the next one, mistakenly assuming that the traffic flow would improve once I got away from Bristol. It was about an hour and a half before I got to the next services. There was also a queue there, but by this time I needed to pee quite badly, so I stuck it out. I eventually got parked and went inside, only to find an enormous queue of women waiting to use the loos. I muttered ‘Oh, my God, no!' A woman heard what I said, and said, ‘I know what you mean. One girl came out of there a minute ago who obviously hadn't got in there in time.' Damn, I thought, missed that one - where did she go I wonder? It was at that moment that I knew that I was going to wet myself, right there and then. I have to admit that although I needed to pee quite badly, I was by no means desperate; if I'd really wanted to, I could have waited for some time. But the temptation was, to me, simply irresistible. I said, ‘Well, I'm afraid I don't think she's going to be the only one!" I relaxed and let go. Pee poured down my legs, soaking my knickers and denim shorts instantly. The other woman gaped at me and said, ‘Oh, dear!' I stood there until I'd finished, gave the woman a what I hoped looked like a wry grin and said, ‘Not much point in my queuing here any longer, is there? Bye!' I walked away, people staring at me as I went. This of course, it has to be said, I thoroughly enjoyed, so much so, that to prolong the thrill, I went into the cafeteria and purchased a snack and a drink before going back to my car.
