Biology Is Ahead Of Our Understanding
As a fresh out of college biologist I took a turn as a Peace Corp. My first job was oral hygiene with the natives. I met an old 'doctor' from somewhere who tended to first aid, childbirth, that sort of stuff. The 'facilities' were primitive, outdoor latrine. It was difficult to go, you never knew who was looking.
The 'doctor' said he smelled me when he walked up on me and I was peeing. He said 'you have diabetes'.
In time during a check up back in civilization I mentioned that to my doctor, a woman doctor, and she suggested we check up on that. I did have diabetes, pre stage, my pancreas wasn't doing it's job.
I learned a lot from that, not to judge what others do from what they look like. That 'medicine' is an art, not just science. That 'natives' were living in a world we couldn't see or understand. That in their world we are ignorant. And that men are different.
Men are different than us women. They smell us, long before we smell them. That smell tells them how to see us.
