One Last Hurrah By The Beach
'Twas the summer of 2019 on a beach town on the outer banks. Me, and my girlfriends, sitting at a bar in the early afternoon when a man and his golf friends walked in. They saw us, walked over and he said I looked fine. They ordered us a bottle of wine, and we got to know each other better. We agreed we would meet them for dinner at the fish place next door at seven.
Loose lips sink ships and we promised to keep it to ourselves. The dinner was good, the dancing at the bar was good, sneaking off to the AB&B and everything after we got there. A lot to ask for from mid forties ladies, a lot more to ask from mid sixties guys.
We agreed we would meet later, but Covid came and the summer escape weekend was called off. And we didn't get together again. I'm not well, plumbing issues women have. I remember my last hurrah, that summer fling of 2019. An almost too old for a night out with the boys, and he was almost to old to make it happen, but he did.
