It's All Part Of How It Was When We Came Home

Some of us remember the early 70s and returning from VN. I used the GI Bill to sign up for college, I was a freshman with nothing but kids. I told a tale of working overseas, never mentioned VN.

When you've been where I had been, at 22 I was so much older than the kids of 18. In Bio 101 I met a girl, Susan. She was a city hippy, no bra, big boobs. We walked from the Bio building towards the student center and I asked her if bouncing her boobs was uncomfortable. She asked me if my dick felt like it was useless because I didn't have a girlfriend. I let it end there.

That night she came to my apartment that I shared with two guys, also older guys. We fucked for an hour or so, she was proud of her boobs. Tit for tat she said. She was liberated, a new feminist. The next time we met in class she asked me if I had herpes. She wanted to know.

As a friend's g*ft she gave me a denim shirt with peace and love and other hippy shit. I told her thanks, but other than that one time trying it on I could not wear that shirt. We had a couple of other times at my apartment. But she was just to immature, it was mostly what she said, a woman's body occupied by a child's mind.

You seem to have respect only for your own experience and perspective.

The "immature hippies" on the home front also experienced some things. They fought to end the war and bring your successors home safely...or stop them from being sent. They fought for a more open and representative government, in which ordinary people could have a say in decisions like whether to go to war. (Sad to see the recent regression, but I fear you'd agree with today's autocratic style of government.)

Having different beliefs does not make another person immature.

The older I get, the better I understand that the progressive types, today's hippies, are stunted intellectuals, half baked, children. Certainly not adults. Peter Pans.
