Our Daughter Is Dying But Her Nanny Keeps Me Grounded
This is an awful situation all around. Two months ago, our daughter was diagnosed with a rare, fatal illness. We were told she had a month to live.
My wife, who is honestly a bit entitled, wanted me to fire the nanny since our daughter would have to live out the last weeks of her tragically shortened life in the hospital.
I said no, for several reasons.
A, Our daughter might end up recovering. Surviving a life-threatening illness and then finding her nanny gone could be too much for her.
B, The nanny might be undocumented, and she signed on expecting to be with us until our daughter turns 18. I can't pull the carpet out from under her.
What I didn't know was that the nanny overheard our conversation from the other room. She speaks English way better than I'd assumed.
So she nanny cornered me as soon as my wife was distracted and had moved on to her next project. We snuck into my daughter's room.
It was my first time with a Hispanic girl, and her first time with a white man.
We made love urgently but still...well...lovingly. I had feelings for this girl, feelings I couldn't explain.
From that day forward, the nanny was my rock. Whereas my wife would burst into tears and blame me whenever she and I tried to discuss our dear daughter, the nanny listened and understood.
I stopped trying to pull out on the third day. She didn't want me to pull out, anyway.
Our daughter's health worsened as my relationship with her nanny strengthened. A month in, our daughter was on a ventilator, and her nanny was pregnant.
I was going to be a dad again, to a beautiful Hispanic girl, a girl who had loved and cared for our daughter so well.
The nanny told me the news at the hospital. She sits by our daughter for hours. But this time, we immediately sneaked into a supply closet and made love, as my wife attended our daughter's bedside.
I told the nanny how much I loved her, and that I would get a divorce aa soon as my daughter died, so we could get married and raise our child.
We've all had to cope with so many scares, but this time, it's real. The doctors say only days left.
My lawyer has drafted the divorce paperwork and it will be served on my wife after the funeral. The agreement is going to be compassionate and amicable.
I mourn the imminent loss of our daughter, I mourn the end of my first marriage, and yet, I celebrate our daughter's upcoming eternal life and the truly spiritual bond...and the unborn child that her nanny and I have created.
Thank you for reading. Please play for all of us. Thank you.
