I Was Encouraged To Reach Out To Lesbian Women Who Marry Men
As an adult with experience I know that I am far from being alone having married a man and having a family with him. For some time after I accepted my 'persuasion' I felt I needed to separate from him and find a new life. After three years I went back to him. I sleep with him every night, if sex happens sex happens, it is his choice. We have a conventional marriage, I use my time to raise my children, who are now 15, 13 and 10. I do not work outside the home. I sometimes go to a session with other women like me who are married to men. It is a support group started by a woman at church who needed to have someone who understood her situation first hand.
In fact, across the cul de sac from me is a Canadian woman who married a man to get away from her small town. She has two sons. We talk often, our own little support group. I have been very steady in my advise, not to leave her husband, there is nothing out there for her. She has two sons, and a husband, her place is in her home. We have what may be called a platonic relationship, which is how we discovered that we both have the same 'persuasion'. For lack of a better word we are best friends, and look out for each other.
Once upon a time it may have been a path for me, but no more. I have three children, and if that alone doesn't make you take stock of your situation, I don't know what does. My husband is generous in the way he supports us, and I don't set that aside. He could very easily be spending his money on some other woman, but he insists that I be the mother to our children, and by the by, the wife of the man I'm married to.
One thing I've learned over these last several years. It is far easier for a woman with our feelings to accept a man as a husband and be his wife than it is for a gay man being accepted by a woman as a husband. A woman cannot easily be the wife to a gay man. I get shivers thinking about that, if that is what had happened to me I would lose my mind.
My 15 year old is quite the young man. My 13 and 10 year olds are little ladies and enjoys all the girl activities at home. We join together in being he best homemakers for my husband and son. I was not so fortunate, I fought all the homemaking chores growing up and my relationship with my mother is strained. As I encourage my platonic best friend to be the mother, wife and homemaker for her family as well. We are not men, we are women and that is our lot in life.
I leave you, perhaps to think about things if you too find yourself married to a man. Accept your lot, be the best wife to him, the best mother to your children, and pay attention to building a home for them. There is no shame in accepting the woman's role in your life.
