Almost 20 Years Of Marriage In A Country With No Rights For Women
My parents immigrated when I was fourteen. I entered under their umbrella. But my parents never took the steps to get citizenship, and my situation was left open. Only when applying to college did we discover I was technically illegal as I had turned 18. A rush was on, and a friend of a friend's son married me in a civil ceremony, requesting my residency.
From day one, he saw me as a house slave. I wanted to go to college, he wanted a house slave like women are in my home country. My parents gave me to him, problem solved. I wasn't really married, I didn't even know him. I slept in a second bedroom, with the door locked, knowing he was waiting to take me and establish the marriage.
I lasted seven weeks, and then he had taken the hinge hardware off, and after I locked the door he pushed the door in. In my home country there is no form of assault between spouses, and the man has absolute power over his wife's reproduction. Being pregnant, was a celebration. my father gave a speech congratulating him.
As his wife I stayed home and stayed pregnant. After I had obtained my citizenship he took me to meet all his family. We stayed in my home country, I registered all my children with the embassy. At least I could give my children US citizenship.
I travel from time to time to see my parents. Over time I developed a platonic relationship with a friend, we are careful because we are both married. She believes my marital problem with my husband is that I am innately lesbian. We both agree that is my true sexual nature, which she and I both share. Both married before we stood on our own two feet, house slaves to men, and their need to breed us like prize dogs and horses.
I'm angry, she's angry, a lot of women are angry. But what good is it? We are husband property, traveling only with permission, meeting in dark corners to satisfy our natural beings. I can't imagine my husband's reaction, should he learn I am lesbian. He will ban me to the country as a teacher, where wives are sent when they are no longer wanted.
