I Have Pictures Of How I Lived Before I Married Him

I keep my mouth shut, when asked where I met my husband, I say work. He must have swept you off your feet. If only. It was a 'business transaction', in return for money. I was past my prime, but good looking enough for an older man. Tired of living alone, he made me a proposition. Wife, home, children. The house swept me off my feet. Who lives like this? That's what I asked myself. You have to be kidding, seven bedrooms nine baths, pool, tennis court, gated drive?

But he was serious. I got an apron and the keys to the house, a new Range Rover in the underground garage. A platinum Amex, a bank account. Just push out some babies, that was the price.

A nanny, a retired English teacher, a chef to cook, a Keys Lady to run the staff. Literally, step out of your panties for your bath, a Thai Lady in Waiting picks them up. Fresh ironed clothes, cleaned shoes, an attendant if you need your nails made up. Make the bed? Are you kidding, hop out of bed and the bed is made.

Each baby has three first names. They either fly private, or first class. The summer is on the island. There is a home school teacher to stay on course. How about shopping? The store sends a model, just like you, same hair color, your size, to model for you. What then is the mirror for?

Oh, sex. Yes, sex. He can't keep it up. But he was good for three kids. He is twenty five years older, never married before, no other babies to compete with. He has that, his babies, Daddy is the word that makes the world go round. I'm Mommy. I suppose as they get older I'll be Mom.

Do I miss my job? Not a chance.

I met my husband in college and knew he is a very driven man even back then, he runs everything and I take care of him and the kids along with the cooking and cleaning. This may sound very backwards in todays women's attitudes but honestly I would much rather be a housewife and boss of the kids than working a job with a boss and petty coworkers.
