Lesbian Female / 29
If I Could Start Over, But I Can't.
Please bear with me, I'm telling you so others don't fall for what I did.
I have good parents. My family is well to do. I wanted something so bad, I lied about it, to get to go. I was a lesbian kid, I had lots of emotional issues. I told my parents I wanted to go to the University of Washington to study child psychology. I wanted to go because it was a lesbian haven.
After I got there I drank the Kool aid. I went off the deep end, sexually promiscuous, many partners. I disguised myself when I went home, kept my tattoos out of sight. My hair I wore a wig. Piercings I took out, I lied, smoked pot, and cigarettes. I said I was just a college kid. I eventually graduated with a degree in Social Work. And a minor in lesbian activism.
I went to Oakland, and joined the movement. I got a minimum wage job working in the kitchen of a restaurant. A job another lesbian got for me. I lived in an apartment with five other lesbians, one bathroom, one bedroom, sleeping on the floor.
I got sick, I coughed up blood and lost my job, the clinic said I had TB. That's when I called home. I weighed 118 pounds, was sick all over, my teeth were on the verge of falling out, I had a long standing vaginal infection prevalent amongst lesbians. And TB. I was hospitalized at a private clinic, for the TB treatment, for the vaginal infection which threatened my fertility. To gain wright. I was there three months until the TB was treated.
A man, friend of the family, offered me an office job. After two weeks he had me tested, I read at sixth grade, math at sixth grade, I had to agree to reading and math remediation. I was on probation, not for behavior but because I couldn't read.
Five years later I had gained thirty pounds, my infections had been cured, I had gone to a private school for reading remediation to pass the GED. My high school degree, my college degree were a joke, worthless. I had also trained as a safety inspector. The one with the clipboard. And I had remained abstinent from a sexual relationship.
I lived at home. If my family had not been able to afford my treatment, I would have died homeless with TB.
I fault the schools which lied to me, and the college which was even worse. They took my parents' money. I have stayed clean, I hope I can. I could not give a damn about the LGBTQ etc etc. My emotions are permanently scared. If I can afford it, I will move out. In the meantime I live at home in my growing up bedroom.
