Last week, my girlfriend of two years told me that she was pregnant and wants to have an abortion. We've been talking about getting married, but she thinks if she has the baby she won't finish college. I really want this baby and I promised her that I will drop out myself and go to work at my brother's car dealership to support us. My sister even runs a home daycare so that's not a problem. My gf still says no. We've fought about this everyday since she said she wanted to get rid of the baby. I feel like she believes I have no say in it. But I can't see our relationship continuing if she goes ahead and does it. I would always feel sad and I'd be afraid that she'd do it again. How can I convince her?

You can't. Ultimitely, it is her choice, and trust me, it won't be an easy one for her, even if you percieve that it is.

She seems pretty determined to go through with this abortion. If you truly want this child and feel that you can take on the responsibility for it, talk to a family lawyer and see what you can do legally to prevent her from having this abortion if it is not what you want also.

Are you sure that she's pregnant with your kid?

Drop out of college to raise a kid. Man YOU ARE NUTS!!!! I'm a guy with 6 figure income and at the homeward stretch of raising two (in their teens now) and unless you have a FAT bank account I suggest you get your education; get a career going with more then enough money rolling in then you need, and ONLY THEN start making babies. Your someone has a daycare... big deal....that's at least 3-4 years away and I doubt he/she will take your kid free as they are typically full up so taking yours will omit another one that would have provided a weekly check to the business. Sorry but, until you've raised a kid or two you HAVE NO CLUE as to what its all about. In a nutshell... its YOUR time, YOUR money, YOUR sacrifice, YOUR life that you would be giving up. You want to really do it right; wait until you not only have the money, wait until your in your 30's.

Sorry, I haven't responded before to your advice (although only one was helpful). I have been very busy. Yesterday I sold my motorcycle to buy an engagement ring and talked to my family about what help I could expect from them. As I thought, I got a promise of both a job and daycare. Just so you know, the daycare takes children ages 6 weeks-11 years so my baby can go right away. My mom was surprised at first, but now she is hoping as much as I am that my gf won't go through with the abortion. She even offered to let us live with her until we save a small cushion of money.

My girlfriend isn't talking to me right now, but I told her best friend what I was doing so she'd know I was serious about making things work. I don't really know about going down the legal route. Ideally, I want my gf and the baby. I guess I may have to do it.

I hope it all works out for you and I hope she changes her mind. Too many girls today see pregnancy and children as a terminal disease, but having children is really wonderful, knowing that part of that living being you created looks like you and thinks like you. I hope your girlfriend changes her mind and that it all works out to your liking. Good luck.

I understand where you're coming from and I think it is very good and caring what you are doing for things to work out with your girlfriend and her baby. However, try to see things from her point of view and everything she has to go through to have this baby. Good Luck!

I don't know how much longer I can take this. I am a reliable person and I don't make promises I can't keep. This is the hardest thing I've ever been through.

Does anyone know when it is too late to have an abortion?

It depends on the doctor performing it and the state's laws. Look up your local chapter of planned parenthood and see if they have guidelines on their site regarding what number of weeks they quit doing them. I think the cut off is usually like 10 or 12 weeks.
